What did we do for St Marcelling Catholic College?
Their new website is a project that needs to reflect the reverence of traditional teaching practices with the conveniences and innovation that come with any modern school community. Working with a school that is yet to be built comes with its own specific challenges, but we were determined to provide SMCC with a digital home that reflects tradition, simplicity and community.
Branding
Create a whole new brand based off the logo alone, so helped determine fonts, colour, photography style and graphic flourishes.
Enrolment
Enrolments were a critical part of their strategy to not only have full classes once they opened, but ongoing interest as more class years become available.
Become a Hub
The site also had to act as a hub for the community around events taking place and the school's role locally.
What was the initial brief from St Marcellin Catholic College?
Core project goals came through clear in the brief -
- Provide a site that serves multiple goals; help to grow the SMCC story, grow enrolments and communicate with families.
- Create a smooth and user-friendly environment for prospective families.
- Showcase the school’s offerings that are easy to navigate and with clear access to resources and information.
- Allow families to enrol, make payments, register for events and communicate with the school and wider community.
What are some project outcome highlights?
Project highlights include -
- Defining and optimising user pathways in which parents find information and resources with an aim to submit an enrolment enquiry.
- UX designs that concisely yet comprehensively show the school’s enrolment process, values and teaching methods.
- A custom WordPress build that uses clearly defined templates to ensure consistency throughout.
- Implementation of multiple third-party software elements to allow for smooth and user-friendly interactions with the larger school community and external vendors.

We have had some incredible feedback about the website which is fabulous. We have been getting steady enrolments too. I love the site and am very happy with how it turned out.

It isn't often you get to build a website for a school that doesn't yet exist. Puts the emphasis back on content and a sense of community, to help drive enrolment, when you're up against legacy schools that already have such a rich back story.
